RELEASE: FCP Strongly Opposes Alberta Party Taxpayer Shakedown
EDMONTON, AB: Today the Freedom Conservative Party (FCP) strongly condemned Alberta Party Leader Stephen Mandel’s request for taxpayer money to fund partisan political losses. Yesterday, the Alberta Party announced they would be appealing to the provincial government for taxpayer money to help fund their political operations in the wake of being shutout of the Alberta Legislature on April 16th.
“I find it bewildering that the Alberta Party would have the gall to ask Albertans to fund their partisan activities. As it stands, political parties already receive very generous tax breaks and in fact quite a bit more than charities. I think this further shows an absolute disconnect with the average Albertan.” – FCP Interim Leader David White
Currently contributors to political parties can receive up to 75% tax credit, while those who donate to a charity receive far less.
