RELEASE: Tories Call for Illegal Oil Price Fixing
EDMONTON, AB: Tory Leader Jason Kenney today called for oil producers to artificially cut their production. Fixing production is illegal under the Competition Act, sections 45, 46, and 48. The act strictly prohibits business from cooperating to set prices or production levels.
"Price fixing and production fixing is clearly illegal under the Competition Act for all non-supply managed industries in Canada. If they do so voluntarily or even at the urging of Government, they are breaking the law against our tradition of free enterprise."
"Competition is always good, and crucial to any functioning enterprise economy." - FCP Leader, Derek Fildebrandt
